Mount performance begins at the interface. Rail geometry establishes the mounting datum, ring bores or optic pockets control alignment, and fasteners must retain preload through recoil and repeated installation. Material is selected against the load case, weight target, machining strategy, and commercial position. 6061-T6 supports lightweight red-dot mounts and accessory rails, while 7075-T6 plate or forgings serve higher-load cantilever and recoil-sensitive programs. Type II decorative anodizing supports sporting and appearance-led programs; Type III hardcoat is available for tactical and high-wear applications. Fasteners are tightened on calibrated equipment to the approved torque specification. Cantilever mounts and ring sets can be installed on a reference fixture for post-torque alignment and bore verification.
